05Jun CarlosX360 at E32009: Capcom Games
Capcom had a small booth this year, but you couldn’t miss the booth, no matter where you stood. Capcom sure knows how to be noticed and attract them all the same. I was attending E32009 as media this year and was able to be playing most of the games in Capcom’s list.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 (PS3 and Xbox 360) – Capcom did more than just a port, they upgraded the game to fix the issues that were found in the PS2 version, and re-did the graphics to fit into the HD-era. And, boy, it looks gorgeous. Its coming soon, so you’ll be able to play this. Surprisingly, there are a few that would play this. I was looking for a challenge, and I won, but then I lost to another dude. Dam.
Tatsunoko vs Capcom (Wii) – This game was hogged by many players during the time I was there; everyone wanted to play. And since it was new to me, I was going like “whoa” and other words – some moves were new to me, like Chun Li’s super kicks. Get this, you can do it in the air, too. What amazed me, was that some players knew how to play. It was nice watching you guys play, boys. Especially that tall african dude.
Lost Planet 2 (Multiplatform) – Game of the Booth – I think this is the best thing that was displayed at E3 by Capcom. They really fixed a lot of the issues many people had, and many of the issues I didn’t like, at all, either. Co-Op is highly featured in this game, and that’s just crazy more than 4 players Co Op? SIGN ME UP! I’m getting this the day its out. I hope its online.
Editor’s Note: This is a recap of a post at Capcom-Unity.com.
I will post the images when I get home. I will also, in the next few days post impressions of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Dark Void, MAG, God of War 3, Tekken 6, Split Second. After that, I will begin testing the waters on creating new videos (sorry, no videos from E3 this year, next year I will be more prepared for that).
31May CarlosX360’s E32009 Predictions
Everyone is doing predictions all over the internet. And I’ll be the last person on the queue on the road to E32009.
Lost and Damned heads to PS3?
Maybe Microsoft has a curse for having their exclusives jump ship? Sony may be getting Lost and Damned onto their PS3 console because the game was a timed exclusive. PlayStation Insider claims that Lost and Damned may be going to PS3, and that the $50 million doesn’t apply to just Lost and Damned, the agreement may mean that Xbox 360 gets not one, but TWO DLC’s for GTA4. The name of the second DLC is The Ballad of Gay Tony. It will be available on Xbox 360 this fall, for 20 bucks a piece.
360° Sensor? 360° Waggle? 360° Wand?
Microsoft unveils the final product of the motion sensor controller, numerous rumors has suggested it will be revealed very soon, others are saying its already been revealed in prototype form. Along with it, will be a few new IP’s that take advantage of the peripheral.
PS3 and PSP Go at E32009?
PSP Go and PS3 are the big announcements that will highlight at E32009, there has been lots and lots of rumors and speculation surrounding the picture that first came onto the internet about PS3 slim. The closer the date gets to E32009, the better the rumors sound. So, a price drop may not happen for the current models; but a slim PS3 will act as the third SKU and will be looked at as a “price drop” by many consumers. Mostly because redesigns are supposed to eliminate costs associated with producing the hardware. A dual picture confirms this because of the striking similarity of the boxes – coupled with a video that Qore subscribers have been getting made the whole dual announcement more likely. The big megaton is PS3, and PSP Go – many sites such as GameSpot, and PlayStation Lifestyle confirms it.
These models, are not intended to replace the current models – they are going to be the second or third pillars of the PlayStation brand mostly because these models are supposed to act as the “download consoles” like OnLive. And judging by the release date for PSP Go (which is Fall 2009), the new PS3 model will be launched in the same window.
Nintendo’s Surprise? WiiHD?
Nintendo has always grabbed a rabbit out of its hat consistently over the last decade that E3 has been alive. Nintendo has always won E3? Will they do it again especially with DSi just released? And when you have Sony coming out with two major announcements? Well, if you’ve been reading up lately about PSP Go, and PS3 Slim – chances are that Wii will get a remodel, or a enhanced Wii through WiiHD? WiiSense? The other surprise may be a new Zelda since a recent patent (#1 and #2) has been filed for use with Zelda’s Puzzles.
Seeeeeeeegaaa
Sega has been hard at work on a major surprise at E32009 – The dream still lives! Dreamcast 2 is coming with 15 launch titles, a DreamMote, an updated VMU that has a sweet looking color screen, it will have an online infrastructure similar to Xbox Live, and it will allow for HD games through awesome graphics. Release Date: 09/09/09 Nah, Just teasing. Just kidding.
Metal Gear Next? NeoMetalGear!?
There has been speculation about Kojima’s recent teaser website. One possibility is that the game relates to a much talked remake of Snatcher, a possible grown up sunny as speculated by a Blu Ray Forum, or possibly Gray Fox himself. What if I told you, that maybe the face behind the cyborg ninja (using Raiden’s exoskeleton) is someone’s daughter? Namely Olga’s? Hmm? And on top of that, there’s an alien version of Olga – since the teaser shows two things: One is an alien form, and the other is the destoryed; yet gifted version of the alien form. I have a feeling that someone got ahold of Olga’s body to retain the blood, and DNA in order to attract Sunny into becoming a part of a new terrorist organization.
Then again, John Olin of XboxEvolved, said in his twitter that the number “5″ in earlier teasers may indicate the fifth IP from Konami/Kojima Productions.
There are evidence that suggests that there is going to be a situation that involves Sunny and her mother. First things first. Kojima left holes into the plot between Olga’s death, and the daughter, like for example; What happened to Sunny after she was ‘freed’ by Otacon? And who happens to be the kid that Sunny met? What part does he have in the new Metal Gear?
I saw the teaser all this time, and I saw that Snake (or Big Boss) teaser. I think it is Snake, a Metal Gear website speculates this. From the image, you can tell he’ll be a colonel, or Master Chief but for what organization? It certainly isn’t FoxHound, it certainly isn’t the Patriots. I think that Snake has healed to the point that the FoxDie allowed him to revert back to aging normalcy. Big Boss couldn’t be alive, because he let himself rest at the end of MGS4. Liquid Snake and Ocelot are dead, but that doesn’t stop someone from getting his genetic DNA and creating clones like they have from Big Boss.
Looking closely between the teaser image and the box art – they’re identical, and Big Boss’ face is very different from the teaser image (this vs this and on top of that there’s a touched up version of it) so its Snake. The other thing that I have noticed is that some think that the box art of MGS4 doesn’t show snake’s eye. But during the game we’ve seen Snake’s eyes wether he’s using the Snake Eye, or not. There’s a possibility that we’ll see old Snake in action before we actually see the new patched-up snake? And that the love of his life may come into his life much the same way Eva walked into Big Boss’ life? And with this, this person acts as an informant to the new organization and tries the same situation on Old Snake?
…..Mortal Kombat …Or what’s left of it.
Next week is the final chance for ANY suspecting bidder to bid on Midway assets including Mortal Kombat along with Warner Bros. eyeing the buyout of the Mortal Kombat brand – and offering Midway a total sum of 33 million straight up for Midway US assets. Midway will be owned by a new company, and Mortal Kombat 8 will be revealed next week during E3 to help skyrocket Midway’s stock price. And whoever owns Mortal Kombat better not piss me off.
Enter the realms of …Forever.
Microsoft moved up their keynote just hours ago. We heard a weeks ago, that 3D Realms was sued by Rockstar over Duke Nukem Forever, but much later, we learned that the company isn’t closing. Sources close to XboxEvolved was saying that the game was also being developed for Xbox 360. All sources before this was old, but the source I’m giving you now, has been online for a few hours now. A developer cites that Duke Nukem Forever was being developed for PC and Xbox 360, and along with it was the timeframe; 2007 through 2009.
What if, the surprise was the acquistion of Midway, or the acquisition of 3D realms, and that either Mortal Kombat or Duke Nukem Forever is exclusive only to Xbox 360 and PC? Hm? The twitter comment said “last-minute” leading me to believe that either one company is to be acquired by Microsoft?
Hellknights invade your home consoles …soon.
I predict that Doom 4 will be unveiled and revealed to the public – the game is to be released sometime next year.
One thing for sure, this year’s E32009 will no doubt be the one to watch. I’ll be there reporting live from the show floor.
31May CarlosX360 Network forms CarlosX360 Co. Ltd.

I’ve been busy this week finishing college finals, and preparing for E32009, so I’m ready to make a few announcements. Every page on the CarlosX360 Network has been changed to reflect these new announcements.
Several announcements this week, the first is the formation of CarlosX360 Co. Ltd. As mentioned on Twitter and my Forums.
You may have heard of two domains that will relate to Modern Warfare 2, I continue to anticipate MW2 by securing a new domain that will act a the homepage of mw2forums, and mw2boards.
12May Duke Nukem Forever Production Trailer Leaked
With 3D Realms closed, the employees leaked the work-in-progress as of the closing:
The game seems like 10 years ahead of its time at the time of the development, now imagine this game was on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. I imagine the game to be detailed, fluid, and downright awesome. I know the graphics aren’t quite on par with today’s graphical standards, but if 3DRealms was given a big-fat chunk of development funding, the production quality on the graphics would have been more evident.
What gets me, is that the game seems to have tackled down the whole “differentiation” aspect of the design. You don’t see too many games showing the main character’s legs these days, now do you? Its like the game was going for that “full 3D experience.”
11May GameInformer reveals Modern Warfare 2 details soon
11May First Modern Warfare 2 Gameplay Revealed?
Millions turned into the NBA Basketball game today only to see this trailer during the commercial break:
I gotta say, that is some great marketing done by Infinity Ward or Activision, making sure the game gets full attention – albeit in a creative, sneaky way. Two thumbs up, boys and girls.
Here’s what Activision had to say about the trailer:
“Everyone on the team is laser focused on making the most gripping experience we’ve ever created,” said Infinity Ward’s CEO, Vince Zampella when the title was announced. “No detail is too small and every finishing touch imaginable is underway to make Modern Warfare 2 our best ever. We can’t wait for our fans around the world to play starting November 10th.”
I swear, its one of the most clever tricks in marketing I’ve seen to date.
09May 3DRealms closed; Internet goes amok, and discusses the closure.
Recently, there has been an uproar over Duke Nukem Forever’s developer 3DRealms recent troubles. As over the last week, 3DRealms has confirmed on its message boards, that the company is closing down.
The news puts Duke Nukem Forever up in the air. However, several reports say that the original IP still belongs to the original owners of 3DRealms. There were suggestions that they could sell the IP to a new owner, others suggest they sell DNF to a company, however, Take Two retains the publishing rights to DNF.
Enjoy!
09May Marvel Vs Capcom 2 coming to XBL, and PSN
Rumors after rumors, the lead up to the announcement of MVC2 has caused quite a stir.
Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, and Marvel, a leading global character-based entertainment and licensing company, today announced that the oft-requested fighting game, Marvel VS Capcom 2 (MvC2), will be coming to the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the this summer via digital distribution. The classic fighter pits some of Capcom’s familiar faces against a host of Marvel Comic’s biggest names in explosive three-on-three team battles. Marvel VS Capcom 2 has been rated T for Teen by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board and will be available for purchase on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 for 1200 Microsoft Points and the PlayStation Network for $14.99 when the game goes live this summer.
Marvel VS Capcom 2 features the biggest roster of challengers to ever square off in a Capcom fighting game, a total of 56 combined brawlers from both the Capcom and Marvel universes. From the world of Capcom comes characters such as Ryu from the Street Fighter series, Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil games and unofficial company mascot Mega Man. Marvel is represented by some of its biggest names, including the Invincible Iron Man, Captain America, the Sentinel of Liberty, and War Machine, Weapon of S.H.I.E.L.D. Players can mix and match from both worlds in order to create their own ideal three man/woman/robot/monster team-up.
Marvel VS Capcom 2 is designed to be a gateway for new players to experience the fun of fighting games while providing a deep system for hardcore fighting fans to dig into. Action is based around colorful, exaggerated attacks that include gigantic projectile attacks (such as Ryu’s fireball or Dr. Doom’s Plasma Beam) and high-flying aerial moves (like Spider-Man’s Maximum Spider or Cammy’s Killer Bee Attack). The controls are somewhat simplified from the classic six-button system at the heart of Capcom games like Street Fighter IV, utilizing a four-button control scheme for the action, with two “assist” buttons that pull in your team members for additional support.
Due to the amazing combination of Marvel and Capcom characters and the game’s celebrated fighting system and graphics, MvC2 has been a hotly sought-after title on the game collector’s circuit. Previously owned copies for older game consoles have been demanding more than $100 in auctions and at specialty video game outlets. Now players who have been desperately searching out used copies of the game will be able to go hands-on and play online with the same great online experience from Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Additionally, Capcom has added an optional advanced visual filter that improves the overall appearance of the game and added online modes, including Ranked Matches and the popular Player “Quarter” Match, that allows up to four people to watch and chat while two others are battling it out.
There are reports from other news outlets that the game is ready to land on XBL, and PSN on June 29th.
Annnd, here’s the teaser trailer for the game that is coming to both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
29Apr CarlosX360 goes to E32009
Starting today, you’ll be seeing pre-E³2009 news in anticipation for the biggest day in gaming, the spectacle of the gaming industry that only happens every once a year.
I will be going, no matter what setbacks I’ve faced with ESA so far.
So, as you can see, its not the first time I’ve been there. If you do not know who I am, head onto the about me page.
27Apr Warner Bros. eyes ongoing Midway sale.
Recently, Midway has been seeking a sale of the company, and/or its brand portfolio. Three Suitors made themselves known. One of those brands include the once famous Mortal Kombat franchise. Still to this day, there are millions of passionate Mortal Kombat fans.
We don’t know if the company will be purchased as a whole, including the assets that come with the company, and the intellectual properties they own. They have a whole lot of them in their belts; among the names are Rampage, Gauntlet, Joust, SF Rush series, Robotron, Paperboy, the Blitz series, NBA Jam, the list goes on and on. Or they’re going to sell them separate.
But what we DO know is that Warner Bros. has an eye on the ongoing search for a owner, MCV has gotten word from a source within Warner Bros. about the possible Midway sale:
“Warner is pretty confident that they will get Midway – which will be an immediate boost to their portfolio. The deal isn’t done yet. Midway is still open to offers from other potential buyers – but Warner looks to be favourite to wrap it up. They look ready to put the money on the table.”
Now, I’m not liking the idea of Mortal Kombat being owned by a company that took the sauce out of Mortal Kombat as far as it can get to a “T” rating label. I’m not sure I like the idea of Warner Bros. doing it. I want my Mortal Kombat back. I want to see the game as it should have been created from the beginning! I want my “M” rated Mortal Kombat, not the barebones ‘Kombat!
I don’t care who owns Mortal Kombat, if Epic buys it, fine. If ID software buys it, fine. If 3D realms buys it, fine. But I don’t want to see it bought by a company that yanks the core trademark of the series; brutality, at the expense of another franchise in a “Vs” crossover game.
I DON’T CARE who it is, just as long as it sounds like a match. A mature game does not belong on a kiddy company’s hand. I, however, like the idea of UbiSoft owning the rights to Mortal Kombat, since they have some experience doing mature games.
